A Academia de Televisão dos Estados Unidos anunciou nesta quarta (17/7) os indicados ao Emmy 2024. A lista, apresentada por Tony Hale (“Veep”) e Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”), junto com a nova presidente da Academia, Cris Abrego, trouxe algumas surpresas, mas concentrou as nomeações em poucos títulos.
A Disney+ teve os dois programas mais indicados deste ano: “Xógum” em Drama e “O Urso” em Comédia. A produção dramática japonesa obteve impressionantes 25 indicações, incluindo indicações de atuação para Hiroyuki Sanada e Anna Sawai, enquanto “O Urso” apareceu logo atrás com 23 e indicações para Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce e Liza Colón-Zayas. Os números incluem as nomeações em categorias técnicas, apresentadas fora da premiação principal, no fim de semana que precede ao Emmy.
A plataforma da Disney ainda dominou a relação de Comédia, recebendo ainda diversas citações por “Only Murders in the Building”, “Abbott Elementary”, “What We Do in the Shadows” e “Reservation Dogs”. Curiosamente, todas as séries citadas estavam na Star+, antes da fusão com a Disney+ – nos EUA, ainda são títulos da Hulu, exceto “Abbott Elementary”, que passa na TV aberta pela rede ABC. Vale apontar que também há outras produções da empresa em Drama e Minissérie, como “Fargo”, “Debaixo da Ponte” e “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”.
Esse domínio aconteceu diante do declínio da outrora toda poderosa HBO/Max, que tem apenas “A Idade Dourada” como Melhor Série de Drama e “Hacks” e “Curb Your Enthusiasm” como Melhor Série de Comédia, três azarões, após dominar as categorias por vários anos. A relação ainda traz “Lakers: Hora de Vencer” e “O Simpatizante” por força de seu elenco, mas as maiores chances de premiação estão com “True Detective: Night Country”, que conquistou 19 indicações na seção de Melhor Antologia ou Minissérie, onde vai enfrentar o favoritismo de “Bebê Rena”, da Netflix.
Além de “Bebê Rena”, a Netflix disputa com “The Crown”, “O Problema dos 3 Corpos” e “Ripley”, basicamente, em outro caso de encolhimento, mas graças às categorias técnicas chega a 107 nomeações, atrás apenas do conglomerado Disney, que somou impressionantes 150 (93 da FX/Hulu, 38 da ABC e 19 da Disney+). “O Problema dos 3 Corpos”, por sinal, preenche a cota de surpresas junto com “Fallout”, a elogiada série sci-fi da Prime Video. A plataforma da Amazon também emplacou “Sr. and Sra. Smith”. E para não dizer que foi ignorada, a Paramount+ aparece com “Companheiros de Viagem”.
Diante desse cenário, impressiona o crescimento da Apple TV+. A plataforma que lança menos títulos que os concorrentes aparece com “The Morning Show” com várias indicações em Drama, seguida por “Uma Questão de Química”, “Slow Horses”, “Palm Royale”, “Sequestro no Ar” e “Fortuna”.
A 76ª edição dos Emmy Awards será transmitida ao vivo do LA Live Peacock Theatre no centro de Los Angeles em 15 de setembro.
